According to The Arc, a leading national organization advocating on behalf of individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD):
“People with IDD can be employed in the community alongside people without disabilities and earn competitive wages. They should be supported to make informed choices about their work and careers and have the resources to seek, obtain, and be successful in community employment.”
Boulder Treasures was founded with a commitment to this premise and with the goal of supporting our apprentices to succeed in community employment of their choice. While at our store, apprentices work alongside job coaches and retail staff, to learn the hard and soft skills required for competitive, independent, and sustainable community employment.
After demonstrating skills proficiency, we promote our apprentices to “Master Apprentice” where they work with less supervision and begin their search for a job.
